South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Search under way after overloaded river ferry capsizes in China killing at least 10” – below is their description.
Search operations continued through the night for five people missing after an overloaded river ferry capsized in bad weather in China’s southern Guizhou province on September 18, 2021. At least 10 passengers were killed in the accident involving a ship operated by Xiling Shipping Company. The vessel reportedly had a capacity of 40, but was carrying at least 46 people. The ferry had been the main mode of transport across the Zangke river for students, and it capsized only days before the Mid-Autumn Festival, a Chinese holiday where families usually gather to celebrate with family. Provincial party secretary Shen Yiqin promised legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible.
