The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Scuffles break out between Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev at weigh-in” – below is their description.
Ahead of Saturday’s heavyweight title fight in London, Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev met at the weigh-in with tensions rising.
“You know I’m better than you,” Kubrat Pulev yelled at Anthony Joshua. “Tomorrow I’ll show you.”
Anthony Joshua has weighed in at 240.8lbs, or 17st 2lbs – around three pounds heavier than he was when he beat Andy Ruiz Jr to reclaim his WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO heavyweight titles last December. Pulev weighed in at 239.7lbs, or 17st 1lbs.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the weigh-in, which saw him square off with Pulev, Joshua said it was “a good weight” and added: “I feel good… I’ll train tonight, keep a good routine.”
It was a confrontational event, with Pulev getting in Joshua’s face as he stepped off the scales. “He’s come talking a lot of rubbish,” said Joshua. “I would have just clapped him in his jaw there and then, but I’ve got to do it tomorrow.”
As well as putting his titles on the line, Joshua is risking a colossal fight against Tyson Fury next year.
“It’s the Battle of Britain, the battle of the world, and I’m convinced it’ll happen if Joshua wins on Saturday,” Eddie Hearn told Telegraph Sport earlier this week.
“A J is desperate for the fight, I believe Fury is desperate for the fight and the teams are desperate. There’s no reason why not.
“We should be in a position after this fight to say: ‘We’re all in agreement, here’s the date, here’s the contract.’ But he’s got to win on Saturday.”
Tomorrow they go head to head at Wembley Arena.
