Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is sending the article of impeachment against former President Donald Trump to the Senate on Monday.

“Make no mistake, a trial will be held,” Schumer, Democrat of New York, says on the Senate floor, adding he has been discussing timing and duration of the trial with Republican leader Mitch McConnell.

“We have three essential items on our plate,” Schumer said. “The Senate must and will do all three — Covid relief, confirmation of nominees and impeachment trial.”
