South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “School hijab ban triggers clashes between Hindu and Muslim students in India’s Karnataka state” – below is their description.
Violent clashes have erupted across the Indian state of Karnataka following weeks of mounting tensions over a rule preventing female students from wearing hijabs while in classrooms at schools and colleges. The head covering is worn by many Muslim women and girls. Schools and colleges in the southern state were closed on February 9, 2022, after clashes broke out between Muslim girls in hijabs and young Hindus who donned saffron scarves representing their own faith.
