School cancels Down syndrome students enrolment at a Launceston catholic school | ABC News

The Tasmanian family of a teenage girl with down syndrome is upset her school has cancelled her enrolment.

Abigail Talbot’s mother says St Patrick’s College in Launceston set her daughter tasks that were not age-appropriate and demanded she sit a psychological test.

The family says when they declined to sign off on the school’s education plan, Abigail’s enrolment was cancelled.

Advocates say all students should have access to learning on the same basis of their peers and says their situation isn’t uncommon.
