A man sporting a Saudi football shirt confronted Israeli journalist Moav Vardi over the Israel-Palestine conflict during the World Cup in Qatar on November 26, 2022. Qatar does not have diplomatic relations with Israel and remains a supporter of the decades-long Palestinian pursuit of statehood. But for the world’s biggest football event, a deal was made to allow direct flights from Tel Aviv, Israel to Doha, Qatar, to allow Palestinians to travel to the World Cup.
