Bloomberg Quicktake: Now published this video item, entitled “Satellite Shows Ida Form Over Gulf of Mexico Days Before Hitting Louisiana” – below is their description.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released timelapse video on August 31 showing the formation of Hurricane Ida over the Gulf of Mexico in the days before it hit the Louisiana coast.

The GeoColor satellite imagery shows Ida’s path as it “strengthened into a hurricane and travelled toward Louisiana”, the agency said.

The hurricane was packing winds of up 145 mph when it made landfall on Sunday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Ida weakened to a tropical depression on Monday, bringing flooding rain to Mississippi.

Four deaths were attributed to the storm by August 31.
