Saskatchewan election 2020: Saskatchewan Party wins 4th-consecutive majority | FULL

Global News published this video item, entitled “Saskatchewan election 2020: Saskatchewan Party wins 4th-consecutive majority | FULL” – below is their description.

The Saskatchewan Party will win its fourth-consecutive majority in the provincial election on Monday, a feat that hasn’t been seen since 2003 when the NDP won a fourth mandate, who then lost in 2007 to the now governing party under Premier Scott Moe. This was Moe’s first election as leader after he took over from long-time leader Brad Wall. As of 11 p.m. local time, the Saskatchewan Party was leading or elected in 49 ridings, with the NDP in 12. While Moe was re-elected in his riding, it was a back-and-forth battle for NDP Leader Ryan Meili, who still does not know as of this writing whether he will keep his seat or if the Saskatchewan Party will sweep up another seat. Moe, following his victory, told residents he wants to create a “stronger Saskatchewan” for all residents. Moe also slammed the federal carbon tax, telling those who voted for him and those who did not that he hears their frustrations with the federal government and would continue to fight for the province. Elections officials won’t start counting the ballots received by mail until after today, meaning some election results may not be immediately known. This was the third provincial election to be held since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The other two have worked out well for the incumbents.
