Canadian Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said Wednesday he has tapped Lt.-Gen Wayne Eyre to conduct a review into an internal probe into sexual misconduct allegations against senior Naval officials.
The probe had concluded no wrongdoing had occurred, but was closed before all witnesses or complainants were heard.
Sajjan said he wants to ensure people bringing allegations forward “feel safe and confident.”
The minister said he would not “put any limits” on the review being conducted by Eyre, adding that if more is uncovered during the review, “it needs to be looked into more deeply.”
Eyre, for his part, said that he expects all leaders within the Canadian Military will “take action immediately” if they see something that doesn’t look or sound right.
