Imposing tough new coronavirus restrictions on London could lead to businesses going bust, according to mayor Sadiq Khan.

His warning came amid speculation that London will soon be moved to Tier 3, England’s highest level.

Mr Khan said he was particularly concerned over the fate of bars and restaurants, as well as other parts of the hospitality and entertainment industry.

He said a move to Tier 3 would require extra government support for those businesses.
