Inspired by the UK’s Captain Tom Moore, a 97-year-old Russian World War II veteran has launched a fundraiser for Russian doctors battling the coronavirus. Zinaida Korneva has launched a website to share her stories that has already raised more than 26,000 U.S. dollars for the families of Russian doctors and medical staff who have died during fighting against COVID-19. Korneva also knitted Captain Moore a pair of wool socks, which she mailed on Tuesday in the hopes that they would reach him ahead of Victory in Europe Day on May 8.
