As sanctions keep piling on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin is now warning Lithuania of severe consequences if more of Russia’s rail shipments to Kaliningrad are blocked.
The small Russian region is not connected to mainland Russia, and is already seeing the consequences of new EU sanctions.
It comes as slow and deadly battle continues in Ukraine’s east.

Overlooking the Dnieper River is the Kiev Pechersk Lavra monastery complex, a Christian pilgrimage site housing Scythian tomb relics and catacombs containing mummified Orthodox monks.
