Russia defends using Iran base for Syria air strikes

Moscow says it has launched another wave of air strikes in Syria, using bombers deployed from Iran.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says its use of the Iranian base near the city of Hamedan, shouldn’t distract from efforts to resolve the conflict.

He’s rejected US allegations that Russia is violating UN sanctions, which prohibit the transfer of combat aircraft to Iran.
