Global News published this video item, entitled “Russia agrees to lend Belarus US$1.5 billion in talks with President Alexander Lukashenko” – below is their description.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday that Moscow would lend Belarus US$1.5 billion to help resolve the political crisis facing the country following the re-election of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko in a contested election. Putin said Russia wants its neighbour to resolve the crisis internally “without any tips and pressure” from outside. The election of Lukashenko, who has been in power in Belarus since 1994, sparked mass demonstrations in the capital Minsk and across the country, with activists protesting the authoritarian leader. Lukashenko said events in his country have proven to him that closer ties are needed with Russia, and said the two countries need to cooperate “on all issues, including the economy.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/7333109/belarus-leader-protests-russia/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on Twitter HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #Belarus #AlexanderLukashenko #VladimirPutin #Politics #Russia #GlobalNews
