GBNews published this video item, entitled “Rotherham child abuse: Report says ‘significant under-recording’ of sexual crimes” – below is their description.
The police watchdog says there has been “significant under-recording” of sexual crimes against children by South Yorkshire Police.
The IOPC examined police conduct between 1997 and 2013 but has made twelve recommendations for action today – including better training and more data sharing.
It also found that many officers retired and so could not be disciplined for alleged misconduct under the rules in place at the time.
South Yorkshire Police says it fully accepts the report and that there will always be more to do.
