Senators continue to debate the merits of Amy Coney Barrett’s expected confirmation to the Supreme Court. Republicans are expected to overpower Democratic opposition and vote Monday evening to confirm President Donald Trump’s nominee. Republican Sen. Mitt Romney spoke on the Senate floor Monday morning saying that Barrett would “be critical to the preservation of the public’s perception of the legitimacy of the Court.” With no real power to stop the vote, Democrats argue the winner of the Nov. 3 election should choose the nominee to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
