For more:
Before 2013, no road from a rural village to the county in Kashgar Prefecture of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region existed. It took local students four days and three nights to get to school. They even had to walk along a cliff. The regional government invested more than 100 million yuan (about $14 million) in road construction. In 2013, the road to the county opened, shortening the journey to the school to 4-5 hours.
