Shallow graves have been emerging from the banks of India’s Ganges river. The bodies, which washed up from seasonal monsoon floods, are believed to belong to Covid-19 victims who died during the second pandemic surge in April and May. Mass cremations are being carried out amid worries over river contamination. Local officials say that about 150 bodies recovered in the past three weeks have been cremated.
