Rio 2016: US Olympic swimmers ‘were not robbed’

Brazilian police say four US Olympic swimmers – including three gold medalists – made up a story about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro.

The men initially told police they were ordered to hand over money and personal belongings at a petrol station. But CCTV footage appears to show no such incident happened.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports from Rio de Janeiro.
