Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “Restrict travel from ‘hotspots, not states’: Canavan” – below is their description.
Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says he would hope decisions regarding travel restrictions during COVID-19 were made based on where the virus is, not “where a line was drawn on a map sometime in the middle of the 19th century”. “I do support state’s right, I support the state’s rights to decide on travel restrictions during quarantine,” Mr Canavan said. “That being said, I think some of the decisions being made are very parochial and short sighted. “I would wish and hope that decisions would be made on where the virus is, not where the line was drawn on a map sometime in the middle of the 19th century. “So fair enough, restrict travel when an outbreak occurs, but let’s define it as hotspots, not states.”
