Residents fear power transmission line will ruin tranquility of Tasmanian wilderness | ABC News

Tasmania will be the battery of the nation; that’s the message being touted by politicians at all levels of government.
The message has most relevance for the state’s north-west, which is the proposed site for a wind farm development that would generate enough electricity to power the entire state.
But to get the project off the ground, the developers need to build a 170 kilometre long transmission line across the region.
The line is being met by fierce opposition by the residents of the remote Loongana Valley, who say it will ruin the landscape and destroy local tourism businesses.
