Australia’s research ship RV Investigator is heading back to the high seas after sitting idle in its home berth of Hobart because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Science projects have been on hold for the past six months, with five trips postponed or cancelled.
The ship’s crew have spent the downtime doing maintenance and upgrades but are now keen to calibrate and test equipment and try out COVID safe practices on the first voyage up Tasmania’s east coast.
