A group of angry protesters confronted U.S. Senator Rand Paul in Washington D.C. early on Friday morning.
Paul was accompanied by his wife, Kelley, as he walked through a group of demonstrators near the White House, many of whom then confronted Paul.
Video shows protesters chanting ‘say her name’ at Paul, in reference to
Breonna Taylor, a black woman from Kentucky who was shot dead by police in May. One man can be heard saying, ‘Rand, you won’t even say her name. It’s in your state and you won’t even say her name’.
After the incident, Paul tweeted to say that he had been ‘attacked by an angry mob of over 100’.
Hundreds of anti-Trump protesters had gathered outside the White House on Thursday evening as Trump accepted the Republican Party’s nomination for the 2020 presidential election. Attendees could hear the protesters sounding horns near the White House as he spoke.
