Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “Reports Kylie Moore-Gilbert released in international prisoner swap” – below is their description.
Australian academic Kylie Moore-Gilbert has reportedly been released from an Iranian prison as part of an international prisoner swap. The Australian government is yet to confirm her release, however, Iranian state media has released footage showing Ms Gilbert in a grey hijab sitting in a greeting room at purportedly the international airport in Tehran. The 33-year-old lecturer from Melbourne was arrested on espionage charges in 2018 when trying to leave Iran after attending an academic conference, and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. She strongly denied the charges – which have also been contested by the Australian government. International pressure has been mounting on Iran to release Ms Gilbert, particularly as concerns were raised over her health – which was believed to have deteriorated following long periods in isolation.
