Rep. John Lewis’s hometown funeral in Troy, Ala., will take place on July 25 in services entitled, “The Boy from Troy.” Events are scheduled at Troy University’s Trojan Arena and Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church in Selma.
The civil rights leader died on July 17 at the age of 80. Lewis spent his lifetime preaching nonviolence while enduring beatings and jailings during seminal front-line confrontations of the 1960s.
