The number of new arrivals has gone up sharply since President Biden ended many Trump-era policies. The White House says it has reached an agreement with Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala to deploy more troops along their borders. Washington says that should make it harder for migrants to continue their journey northward. Much of the new administration’s focus now is on the plight of children.
