South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Rare protest in Singapore as hundreds rally against death penalty after executions resume” – below is their description.
Hundreds of protesters in Singapore rallied against the death penalty on April 3, 2022, in a rare demonstration inside the city state after it carried out the first execution in two years on March 30, 2022. Singapore has some of the world’s toughest drugs laws and authorities insist that capital punishment is an effective deterrent against drug trafficking. But there is mounting pressure from human rights groups calling for Singapore to abandon the death penalty. Seven other inmates, including a mentally disabled man, have been on death row since 2019.
