The mayors of the Hawkesbury City Council and Hills Shire Council held a joint-media conference today to call on the NSW Government to raise the Warragamba Dam wall saying that their communities are exhausted after experiencing too many floods. .
“Our communities have gone through five floods in 2 and half years. These floods are devastating, our communities are exhausted, and over it. The proposal to raise the Warragamba Dam wall was first approved in 1993…the time for discussions is finished. We need to urgently move forward this plan” – Mayor of the Hawkesbury City Council, Patrick Conolly.
“The people of the Hills have gone through four major floods during the last 16 months. And it is too much. Our residents are calling for immediate action to better protect their homes and businesses. And the immediate action that they’re calling for is the raising of the Warragamba Dam wall” – Mayor of the Hills Shire Council Peter Gangemi.
