An out-of-control wildfire in the Canadian province of British Columbia has prompted evacuation orders for thousands of residents in the Okanagan region. Hundreds of others have been placed under removal warnings on July 31, 2022. The blaze has left over 2,000 hectares (4,942 acres) of land scorched, according to the British Columbia Wildfire Service, with much of it burning over steep and inaccessible terrain. Officials suspect that the fire could have been human-caused.
