South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Race to save Bangladesh’s rare Sarail hound from extinction” – below is their description.
The rare Sarail hound has been treasured in Bangladesh for centuries. But the dogs, which closely resemble Greyhounds, are generally too expensive to raise for ordinary Bangladeshis and are viewed as a luxury in a country where some 30 per cent of people live in poverty. With just dozens of pure-breds remaining, the last owners of Sarail dogs hope to save the breed from extinction by organising mating sessions.
