Competing U.S. bipartisan proposals to pump billions of dollars in federal funding into tech innovation will face votes this week. The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee is set to meet on Wednesday to consider amendments to the Endless Frontier Act, a legislation which aims to increase investments in science and technology innovation in order to strengthen economic and national security. The bill would provide $100 billion in funding over 5 years for research into artificial intelligence and machine learning, robotics, high-performance computing and other advanced technologies. The bill is expected to help build American competitiveness with China and other countries. Could it lead to a fierce technology rivalry?
