Queensland has detected one new locally acquired case of COVID-19 in a close contact of one of the existing clusters that saw Greater Brisbane locked down earlier this week.

South Australia has lifted its hard border with Greater Brisbane and will allow most travellers to leave quarantine from today.

Travellers from Brisbane have been freed early from a 14-day hotel quarantine stay in Tasmania after enduring days of uncertainty.

About 10 people had been held since March 29 after 14-day quarantine was mandated by the Tasmanian government for anyone who had been in Brisbane, even as travellers were crossing the Bass Strait.
