The end of the university term has provided much-needed relief, as Queensland schools face a serious teacher shortage due to soaring rates of sick leave.
Students who have just graduated mid-year are being recruited to fill gaps before the start of Term 3 on Monday 12 July.
“If students are coming out and they’re qualified to teach, then we welcome them into our schools.” – President of the Queensland Teachers’ Union, Cresta Richardson.
