Queen opens new ENT hospital in first public engagement of 2020

The Queen has opened the new premises of the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals in Bloomsbury, London, in what was her first public engagement of 2020.

The new facility brings the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and the Eastman Dental Hospital together under one roof, becoming the biggest specialist centre in Europe for dental, ear, nose, throat, hearing and balance services.

As she met with staff and patients at the hospital, the 93-year-old monarch empathised with children having their braces fitted, telling them: “I had wires, luckily it was a very long time ago.”
