ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Qld to introduce Australia’s ‘strongest parole laws’ for child killers & serial murderers | ABC News” – below is their description.
The Queensland government is set to introduce the “strongest parole laws in the nation” that would block child killers and serial murderers from being granted parole.
The proposed laws would give the Parole Board Queensland (PBQ) president the power to block an offender from receiving parole for up to 10 years.
The laws would apply to “the worst of the worst” offenders who are serving a life sentence after being convicted of killing a child or committing multiple murders.
Under the proposal, there would be no limit on the number of successive declarations made to block parole, meaning those prisoners could be kept behind bars for decades.
