ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Qld records three new community COVID-19 cases, restrictions in the south-east extended | ABC News” – below is their description.
Mask and social distancing restrictions in south-east Queensland will be extended for another week after the state recorded three new community cases of COVID-19.
Two of the latest cases are a 12-year-old boy who had returned from the United States to Brisbane after completing hotel quarantine in Sydney, and his father, who picked him up from the airport.
Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said the pair’s exposure sites had been limited, including a workplace at Cotton Tree on the Sunshine Coast and Aspley Medical Centre on Brisbane’s northside.
Dr Young said the third case in a Brisbane International Airport worker was more concerning.
She said the woman in her 40s from Tarragindi, in Brisbane’s south, did three shifts while infectious on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
She had also visited Woolworths at Annerley on Monday and Chemist Warehouse at Annerley on Wednesday.
Dr Young said the woman was vaccinated, had came forward as soon as she developed symptoms and had been checking in at venues using the Check In Qld app.
“They did the right thing,” she said.
“We now have to see where they have been working, who they have come into contact with.
“There’s a significant risk there.
“Any of those people could, of course, have gone home anywhere in south-east Queensland so we just need to maintain those restrictions for another seven days.”
Dr Young said she was waiting on genome sequencing for all of today’s cases but suspects “they are unrelated to all of our other cases” in recent weeks.ABC News (Australia) YouTube Channel
