Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah has returned home after a short visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday during which he held talks with the Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz on ways to defuse an escalating crisis between Arab countries and Qatar.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan and Maldives have cut or downgraded diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing the peninsula of supporting “terrorists” and Iran. Doha has firmly denied the accusations and is seeking answers for the regional political attacks.
Air, land and sea blockades have also been imposed on Qatar, isolating it from the outside world.
Turkey, a regional powerhouse, has also called for an end to the Arab rift. But efforts for change and mediation do not appear to be working enough.
