Qatar Airways has launched a multibillion-dollar lawsuit against four Arab countries that have imposed a blockade on the Gulf state, banning Qatari aircraft flying over from their airspace.
The airline is seeking five billion dollars in compensation from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
The countries imposed a land, sea and air blockade in 2017, banning Qatar’s planes from their airspace.
The UN’s top court ruled last week in favour of Qatar, approving the jurisdiction of the International Civil Aviation Organisation to hear the case.
Kyle Bailey, a pilot and aviation analyst, talks to Al Jazeera.
