He made the announcement at an annual naval parade in St. Petersburg. Putin said the new weapon systems would boost combat capabilities but did not specify when the navy would receive them. Defense experts worry #Washington’s refusal to extend a critical nuclear arms reduction treaty with Russia may fuel a new arms race in weapons of mass destruction. The treaty is set to expire next year and Putin said he doesn’t want an arms race.
