Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel give a joint press conference in Moscow after bilateral talks on Friday, August 20. The leaders are expected to discuss topical regional and global issues as well as the current state of bilateral cooperation in various areas. Merkel’s trip to the Russian capital will be her last as the German chancellor, a post she has held since 2005, as the CDU politician is preparing to step down September, having announced she will not seek a fifth term in office.
