The grieving parents of Gabby Petito have finally retrieved their slain daughter’s remains, six weeks after she was abandoned by her fugitive fiancé Brian Laundrie in Wyoming. The family are seen leaving the Valley Mortuary in Jackson, Wyoming, on Saturday morning with her father Joseph clutching a white box containing the ashes of the 22-year-old van life blogger. Gabby’s grieving family traveled to Wyoming to collect her ashes from a local mortuary after her remains were finally released by the coroner’s office earlier this week. Gabby’s mother and stepfather -Nichole and Jim Schmidt – arriving in Jackson Wednesday afternoon. Their daughter’s remains had been held at the Teton County Coroner’s office since she was found last month as part of the ongoing investigation into her death. Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue – who earlier confirmed her death was ruled a homicide – on Tuesday revealed Gabby had died of manual strangulation. Blue said he could not determine the exact date she was killed but confirmed she was a victim of domestic violence and that her body had lay undiscovered in the remote Wyoming wilderness for up to four weeks. Gabby was found dead on September 19 near an undeveloped camping area along the border of Grand Teton National Park.
