Global News published this video item, entitled “Prince William, Pope Francis call for urgent action on climate change in TED Talks” – below is their description.

Pope Francis, the Head of the Catholic Church, and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, participated in a new TED climate initiative called “Countdown Global Launch, A Call to Action on Climate Change” that was launched Saturday. The Duke of Cambridge called on people to do their part to protect nature, clean the air and revive the oceans during the coming decade to help climate change from spiralling out of control. Pope Francis issued an urgent call to action to defend the planet and help the poor in his second TED Talk. The pope said, “We have just a few years to drastically reduce the emissions of gas and the greenhouse effect in the atmosphere,” adding the transition needs to take into account the impact on the poor, local populations and those who work in the energy sector. Other speakers and activists at the online event included actress and activist Jane Fonda, former U.S. vice-president Al Gore and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
