The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Prince Philip’s Land Rover funeral hearse: Why the car had such an impact on the Duke of Edinburgh” – below is their description.
Were two British institutions ever more perfectly matched than the Royal Family and Land Rover?
The two have become inextricably linked and it seems fitting that the Duke of Edinburgh’s coffin will be carried through the grounds of Windsor Castle in a modified Land Rover that he designed for the occasion himself.
The first Land Rover was sketched in the sand off Anglesey by Rover’s chief engineer Maurice Wilks on a summer holiday in 1947 with his brother Spencer, Rover’s managing director.
