Prince Harry has wished participants well in the Trailwalker Relay 2020 virtual team event.
The event is held by the Gurka Welfare Trust and Oxfam will see competitors trek more than 62 miles (100 kilometres) in teams.
Prince Harry served alongside the Gurkhas in Afghanistan and visited Nepal following the 2015 earthquake.
In a video on the Trailwalker UK’s Twitter page, he urged participants to “dig deep” to complete the event.
“Doing this relay virtually is going to make it even more difficult than it already was so you’re gonna need to dig deep, physically and emotionally, to get you and your team across those 100 kilometres.”
“I know that you can do it and with every step, you take just remember you’re helping those who need it most.”
The walk usually takes places across the South Downs but was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
People will now take part separately, splitting the distance between teams, and following social distancing rules.
