Premier Palaszczuk ‘missed the point’ on border closures

Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “Premier Palaszczuk ‘missed the point’ on border closures” – below is their description.

Sky News host Chris Smith says Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has “missed the point” in regards to closing the state border because it is not about whether it is legal, but rather whether she can control a cluster. His comments come after Premier Palaszczuk announced Queensland will be open to New South Wales and Victoria on December 1. Ms Palaszczuk also noted later that the High Court “upheld the situation where states can make the decisions to look after the health of their citizens, and strong border measures protect the health of their citizens”. Discussing the influx of people who will holiday in Queensland, Mr Smith said “how confident should you be that you’ll be able to make the trip when – even before she opens the border – the premier is talking about the possibility of closing it again?” “It’s not about whether it’s legal to do it (close the border), she’s missed the point, it’s about whether you should be able to control a cluster with one of the world’s best health systems,” he said. “There’s nothing like being partially definitive is there.”
