The event marked the formal inauguration of the Alliance for Poverty Eradication.

The high-level meeting, inter-alia, provided a forum to highlight the major impediments to poverty eradication and the measures needed to ameliorate widespread poverty and its attendant consequences. It also facilitated the exchange of ideas and good
practices in poverty eradication.
