  • ITV News shared this disappointing holiday news for British tourists visiting Portugal: the country is to be moved from “green list” to “amber list” amid growing concerns about the Delta (Indian) and Nepal variants of Covid-19.

The restrictions placed on people travelling to the UK from amber list nations are significantly greater – and include self isolation at home for 10 days – than those placed of travellers from green list destinations.

Many British travellers returned from Portugal following the all-UK UEFA Champions League Final between Manchester City and Chelsea last week. The country remains on the green list until 8 June 2021, which may allow tourists to return home before restrictions are in place, though many travellers are likely to be caught out by the change in status happening so quickly.

ITV News published this video item, entitled “Portugal to be taken off travel green list and added to amber list | ITV News” – below is their description.

Portugal will be moving to the amber list and no new destinations will be added to England’s green travel list, transport secretary Grant Shapps has confirmed.
