The leader of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has endorsed same-sex civil unions for the first time. Pope Francis made the comments in a documentary which premiered at the Rome Film Festival, saying he supported the right of same-sex couples to have a family. The pope’s comments are a radical departure from those of his predecessors’. Al Jazeera’s Andrew Chappelle reports. –
