Polls open in Armenia snap parliamentary election

Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Polls open in Armenia snap parliamentary election” – below is their description.

Armenians are heading to the polls in a snap parliamentary election on Sunday.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was forced to call an early vote, following protests over the country’s defeat in a war with Azerbaijan last year.

With his Armenia Alliance, former president Robert Kocharyan is Pashinyan’s main rival.

Although he is tainted by allegations of corruption, Kocharyan is trying to capitalise on a bounce in his polls and unify the anti-Pashinyan vote

Al Jazeera’s Rory Challands reports from Yerevan, Armenia.
