Global News published this video item, entitled “Police unions rally in Paris, supporting officer indicted for manslaughter” – below is their description.
Police unions and retired officers gathered in Paris on Monday in support of an officer indicted for manslaughter.
The officer is accused of manslaughter after two people were shot dead and one was injured by police in Paris in the early hours of April 24, after officers fired on a vehicle that failed to stop, according to local media. It was reported the vehicle was said to be driving towards police officers and against the direction of traffic.
“This officer comes to do his job, he is indicted for manslaughter. It seems completely absurd,” Julien Le Cam, the police officer representative of the “Alliance” union.
But across the road from the rally, dozens of people gathered in opposition with the aunt of one of the man allegedly shot.
“These incidents happen systematically to the same French people, the same French people, men, from minorities, Black, Muslim, and from the working classes,” said Samia El Khalfaoui.
